1. Import any disk groups that are going to be backed up.
2. Open a command prompt and execute the appropriate vxcbr command:
To back up all of the private regions for all of the disk groups, use the following syntax:
vxcbr -a [-p] backup
For example, to backup all of the private region configuration for all of the SFW dynamic disk groups to the C:\vxcbr directory, execute:
vxcbr -a -pC:\vxcbr backup
If the directory has a space in the name, place the directory name in quotation marks, “”:
vxcbr -a -p”C:\disk group configuration back up” backup
To back up the private region for a specific disk group, use the following syntax:
vxcbr -p<path> backup <disk group>
For example: vxcbr -pC:\vxcbr backup diskgroup1
Note: VxCBR will create the folder if it does not already exist.
How to restore the VSF Disk Groups (DGs) configuration using VxCBR:
1. Deport the disk group that is to be restored.
2. Open a command prompt and execute the appropriate vxcbr command:
vxcbr -p<path> restore <disk group>
For example: vxcbr -pC:\vxcbr restore diskgroup1
If the directory has a space in the name, place the directory in quotation marks, “”:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VERITAS\VXCBR\ManualCBR\” restore diskgroup1
Note: Do not use a space between the “-p” switch and the path to the folder where the backup resides. When restoring the disk group configuration, do not use the path name of the folder that contains the backup files; use the parent directory that has the folder with the name of the disk group in it.
3. Perform a rescan.
4. Import the disk group and the configuration that is used will be the one that was restored from step 2 above.
