Steps to reset Microsoft Notepad to default settings on Windows 10

Notepad is a very useful on Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems and it allows add the simple text and will use less resources of CPU and RAM to open up this text editor. Notepad allows to save the text in different file formats like batch files, script files, registry files, NFO and DIZ. If any user wants to change the notepad settings, just follow the steps to reset Microsoft Notepad to default settings on Windows 10.

The default font in Windows 10 Notepad is Consolas font with Regular style, and the font size 11. Word Wrap and Status Bar are disabled.

  • To reset all Notepad settings, from the Windows Menu,
  • Open Windows Start Run box or type in Search Box,
  • Type ‘regedit’ and hit Enter to open the Registry Editor
  • In Registry Editor, navigate to the following key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Notepad

In the left pane, right click on Notepad and select ‘Delete’ as shown below figure

If you follow the above said steps, that will remove the current settings of Notepad and will be reset to the default Microsoft Windows settings.

Can we insert images or pictures in Notepad?

There is no such option avaialble in Notepad to add or insert pictures or images. Can use Word pad or Microsoft Word for that requirement. Notepad is a generic text editor included with all versions of Microsoft Windows that allows you to open and read plain text files.

How to open Windows Notepad

Windows Users who are using the Microsoft Windows can run Microsoft Notepad (notepad.exe) by following the steps below.

  • Click on Start button
  • In the Run box or on the Windows Search Box type “notepad” and hit Enter

or

  • Click Start
  • Click Programs and then Accessories
  • Click the “Notepad” icon
